Professor Grabowska, a member of Natural Environment Protection Committee and Health and Safety Committee of European Parliament speaks of diabetes: “Your life- your health, start from yourself!”
“Diabetes is not only a disease, it has also become a serious social matter. Our stressful lifestyle and lack of sport are partly responsible for this. Also, unhealthy diet and obesity make are more prone to diabetes.” World Health Organisation has stated that diabetes is an epidemic of 21st century. Unfortunately, the researches show that the Polish are not supporters of prevention and they do not easily quit unhealthy lifestyle. A chocolate when we feel hunger or crisps when watching movie- certainly these actions will not help us to keep the healthy weigh. Let us look at the Finnish solution. The Finland encouraged people to more active life and provided education and a proper health care for all suffering from diabetes. Also, Denmark and Great Britain have been placed on very high positions in recent ranking of effective health care, what is interesting is the fact, that those countries did not spend more money on this issue than others. Poland was 25th in the same ranking, in which participated 29 states. Only prevention and early diagnosis allow the doctors to control the disease. We need to remind it over and over again, until this truth is entirely understood, that to protect ourselves from this illness, we need to lead a healthy lifestyle and have a healthy diet. Your life, your health.
