12 February 2009, Brussels, About co-operation and exchanging experience when working with the youth. Professor Grabowska has met with the representatives of Dutch company, which looks for solution to problems concerning alcohol and drugs addiction among the youth. Special meetings are held in schools and aim at convincing students that these kinds of stimulants are not needed. Guests of these meetings are experts and people who managed to overcome addictions.

11 February 2009 Brussels, European voices- straight from Brussels. Professor Grabowska has participated in a 1st debate of new programme in Katowice Radio titled “European Voices”. The debate of Silesian members was held in European Parliament and was concerning the reaction of European countries to world-wide crisis and tensions present within the European Union. Professor Grabowska has also touched upon the efficiency of the actions undertaken by the UE .

11 February 2009, The European Day of 112 number. The European Union has announced the 11th of February as a day of the emergency number 112. It is common for all states and was introduced in 1991. The number can be dialled from cell phones and regular telephones. Professor Grabowska is also the co-author of one of the most important ideas concerning the helpline for children in Europe. 10 February 2009, Brussels, European Union for victims of terror. In reference to recent dramatic events- the death of a Pole Piotr Stańczak, Professor Grabowska together with Dariusz Rosati have sent an appeal to European parliament concerning citizens and their safety. Members of Parliament want the European Committee to check and evaluate the efficiency of actions undertaken in order to help European Citizens.

3 February 2009, Strasbourg, Professor Grabowska in defence of rights of Poles in Lithuania. In reference to a session in European Parliament concerning protection of traditional national and ethnic minorities together with protection of immigrants in Europe, Professor Grabowska delivered an announcement about polish national minority using bilingual naming in Lithuania- “No united state in contemporary Europe does not negate rights of minority”. We are building multicultural Europe, where next to monolithic nations live minorities (....) That is why it has been brought to my attention as a surprise, that according to the Supreme Court of Lithuania that using street plates in polish was banned in a region where nearly 70% of inhabitants is polish. It is difficult to understand why Lithuania is ignoring European standards”.

03 February 2009, Strasbourg, Professor Grabowska is making a plea for help for a Pole, Piotr, who was kidnapped in Afganistan. Professor Grabowska during a plenary session concerning issue of Guantanamo prison has made a plea for improving the relationship with the Islamic world. She expressed her hope for solidarity and protection of European citizens. She has also appealed to the participants for help for a Pole, Piotr, who was kidnapped and became a victim of terrorism. His family is hoping that the people of power will do everything, to save him.

3 February 2009, Strasbourg. Fines for employees of illegal immigrants from outside European Union. Professor Grabowska has participated in a debate concerning a directive, which states legal sanctions for hiring illegal immigrants. It is estimated that there are from 4.5 to 8 million illegal immigrants and the number is still increasing. In Poland, every tenth company hires foreigners illegally. The most numerous group of immigrants are Ukrainians.

1 February 2009, Warsaw, Agreement for the future. Professor Grabowska together with a group of Social Democracy Party supporters from Silesia Region participated in an inauguration of a new grouping- Agreement for the future with its supervisor Professor Dariusz Rosati. In the ceremony there were present couple of hundreds people from all over Poland. The aim of the group is to find a new, friendly dialogue between wide groups of society.

30 January 2009, Katowice, Museum of Matches Production. Professor Grabowska has met with Mr Eugeniusz Kałamarz, the president of Matches Production Enterprise in Częstochowa. The president has presented the important issue that is now faced by the Enterprise. The machines used in the process of production date back to the very beginning of the company, hence their industrial and historical value. The company wants the machines to be announced as monument so they could promote our region both in the country and abroad.

She has touched upon the crucial issue of fighting against children abuse, also Professor Grabowska mentioned the International Day of Safe Internet, which takes place on February 10th. Professor Grabowska has reminded of the two competitions: LOGO of Silesia Region in the European Union and “Why do I love Silesia Region” competition connected to the St Valentine’s Day.

28 January 2009, Brussels, European Parliament about Guantanamo prison case. Professor Grabowska during the socialist group sitting participated in a debate about resolution concerning repatriation and re-location of the imprisoned in Guantanamo. The resolution gladly welcomed the idea by President Obama about closing the prison. Professor Grabowska expressed several time her wish for respecting human rights.

28 January 2009, Katowice, An informational meeting “Take the first step towards European Funds”. In professor Grabowska`s office, a meeting for teachers from Silesia Region was held. The meeting was titled “European Subsidy for Extraschool Activities”. Participants were acknowledged with the whole procedure , projects and rules of receiving a subsidy. Many schools from various cities in our region have participated in this meeting.
